It doesn’t take long for people to realize that I am slightly (ok extremely) obsessed with Disney. When people are complaining about anything Disney related — I always find a way to spin their dislike into something positive.
But when Disney announced “Pandora: The World of Avatar”, based from the Avatar movie — I was struggling to be enthusiastic about this new land. Couldn’t they just have done “Beastly Kingdom” as they originally planned? A land filled with dragons and unicorns, now that would have been perfect!
It felt weird that Disney would create an entire land based from a movie that no one really discusses. You never really hear about how Avatar is on someone’s top movie list. So from the beginning I was over it.
Any announcement based on this new land wasn’t calling my attention. But when they were offering “Annual Pass Previews”, I still signed up with some friends. I was expecting to go in and not really enjoy it.
I was wrong.
The second we walked into Pandora I felt that I was punched in the face with magic. In a good way. We actually first entered when there was a little bit of rain, which somehow managed to make the place look even better.
I loved it all — especially how all the real and faux plants were combined to create a real lush environment. The waterfalls and floating mountains where breathtaking. None of could stop taking photos. Each angle was captivating.
Disney truly proved me wrong and created a beautiful land.
The food was also amazing! I know one complain that a lot of people have regarding Disney is their food. But the Satu’li Canteen definitely had some fun options and not the usually burger menu. The portions are also huge, so you can share a meal. :)
As this was a preview event, we couldn’t go on both rides, but we did get to experience the “Na’vi River Journey”. It was a boat ride through a “bioluminescent rainforest”. Definitely rating it as one of my favorite rides.
The best part of it all — you don’t need to watch Avatar to enjoy this land (cause that movie is just way too long). Pandora was built based on the movie but it feels like its own thing. With all the beauty and details in this land, I feel that anyone can appreciate it.
Now I just need to wait for Pandora to officially open to so I can go back to the Canteen for another delicious meal!
Have you visited The World of Avatar yet? If you have, would love to hear your thoughts!
