Its finally here, 2017! I am a combination of excited / nervous for the New Year.
The past couple of years I have usually taken this time to make some resolutions on how I need to work more. But I realized that when it comes to my business/work my time to make changes is usually around Autumn — its just a time that feel right for those changes.
So this year, instead of forcing myself to “blog more” or “post more on social media” — I decided that I need to do more for myself as well. Have some goals that are just for fun.
Don’t get me wrong, my business is a large part of who I am. I love everything about what I get to do and feel blessed every single day that I get to work with small businesses and make pretty websites — but I also want to start making time for other things. So here are my goals for 2017.
1. Create More.
I create websites, logos, and brands for my clients — but I want to start creating just for fun as well. I’ve never been the craftiest or very artistic, but I plan on making time to start painting and creating some fun DIY projects.
Originally I thought to do a different craft or painting each week then share it on the blog, but quickly realized that this would take the fun away from it. So I am just going to create for fun.
And the truth is — its probably not going to look great. But I want to just have fun with it. :)
2. Let go of all the social media rules.
Last year I started 2016 with all these rules for my social media accounts. Post daily at a certain time, only post this type of photo on a certain day of the week, only share business articles, etc.
It quickly turned social media into homework. It all felt force. And as much as I do love beautifully crafted social media feeds — I realized that is not who I am.
I know that for some people and businesses that strategy works, but it really wasn’t working for me. I created all these silly restrictions and I just stopped enjoying it. So this year I will post when I want and when I want. So prepare yourself for a lot of awkward selfies and Disney photos.
3. More Disney fun.
Even though many people think that the Hubby and I live at Disney, it was feeling like the opposite this past year. Compared to other years, we were barely at the parks.
So we started the New Year at Epcot and realized that this something we want to do. Spend more time at the parks again. The main reason is because we realized that being there makes us feel so inspired and excited. Its what motivates us.
4. Read all the books.
Last year I spent half of the year in the worst reading rut. When I finally emerged from that I quickly remembered why I love to read so much. So this year I plan on always having a book to read. I finally setup my “Goodreads” account and adding all the books to my list.
5. Disneybound outfits.
For those of you unfamiliar with the term — Disneybound is when you create outfits that are inspired by different Disney characters. Feel that this can fall under my goal of “creating more” as it definitely involves a little imagination and creativity.
I won’t go crazy buying new clothes, just want to use what I have and then slowly incorporate a few new pieces.
