Embedding YouTube Videos to Your Blog Post

Recently I’ve had clients ask me to teach them how to embed a YouTube video to their blog posts on WordPress. So I wanted to share a quick tutorial on how this done.

Its really easy! Promise. And then you’ll be able to share all the awesome videos you post over on your channel. Or you can just share videos of cute puppies. Whatever works. :)

There are 2 different methods on how this can be done.

Method 1 for WordPress:

This method is the quickest way to get your video embedded into a post/page but will only work for WordPress. Also, sometimes this method may display the video a bit smaller than the width of your site’s content area. For more options and customization look into method 2 below.

Step 1: Go to the YouTube or Vimeo video that you would like to embed into your site.

Step 2: Copy the URL for the video. For example I will be embedding this video into a post,

Step: 3: Go to your WordPress site and create or open the post/page you will be embedding the video into. Click on where you want the video to appear then paste the URL that you copied from YouTube/Vimeo

Step 4: Click on “Preview” to confirm that the video is placed where you would like it to be. If everything is good to go then select “Publish/Update” on your post.

All done!

Method 2 for WordPress & Blogger:

This option will give you a bit more of flexibility when it comes to embedding YoUTube videos on your blog. This option works for both WordPress and Blogger.

Step 1: Go to the YouTube video that you would like to embed into your site. Scroll down to underneath the video player and you will see an option that says “Share”, click on this >> then select “Embed” right underneath it >> then select “Show More” right underneath the snippet of code to view all the options.

Step 2: Here you have some options such as making the video smaller/larger on the “Video Size” drop down. You can also uncheck/check the options available underneath.

Step 3: When you have made all the adjustments you wanted copy and paste the “iframe” code right under the “Embed” tab.

Step 4: Now head on over to the post/page you would like to embed the video to. When editing the post/page make sure you change the view you are editing your post into to “Text/HTML”.

On WordPress you can see the “Text” tab on the right hand side. On Blogger you can see the “HTML” tab on the left hand side.

Once you have selected this view then paste the code from YouTube.

Step 5:: Click on “Preview” to confirm that the video is placed where you would like it to be. If everything is good to go then select “Publish/Update” on your post.

You are now good to go and ready to embed all the things onto your site! Well not all…but you get the point. :)
