This past weekend we had the opportunity to attend DragonCon (in Atlanta, GA) for an amazing 4 day convention filled with so many great vendors, cosplayers, and attendees. It all happened a bit last minute (as we were originally wait-listed) but we couldn’t have been more excited.

If you never heard of DragonCon, its one of the larger shows in the SE area bringing in over 50,000 attendees.

So of course we hit the road at a ridiculous time and arrived at Atlanta at 3AM — way earlier than anticipated. And while we drove around the city at this time we spotted an even closer hotel which actually had rooms available (miracle!) so DoubleTree was kind enough to waive our cancellation fee at the original hotel we were staying at as we booked with a closer DoubleTree (just right across the street from the convention).

BTW – This is not a sponsored post, just have to mention how lovely the staff was at 3AM and how they quickly accommodated us. Even let us hang out at in their lobby as we couldn’t check in at that time.

So of course I was snap-chatting (is that what you call it?) photos of us hanging out in the lobby and looking extremely sleep deprived and awkward. You will probably not want to follow me on snapchat because it can get ridiculous.

Not a bad view...

My favorite part of the entire convention was how the city was buzzing those 4 days! The streets were packed with Darth Vader, Superman, Batman, and princesses — all the cosplayers were out and about after the con heading to after parties or just to pick up their coffee at Starbucks.

When we travel we do love to try eating at a local place or two throughout the convention but being that we were mostly sleep deprived the entire 4 days (and being a vendor is actually a lot of work!) we opted to pick up some Moe’s just 2 blocks down and go back to our room to enjoy our view and of course watch Teen Beach Movie 2 on the Disney channel.

I did like that we got to walk around the vendor hall (which we rarely get to do) early in the morning. Of course I was drooling over the Ultra Sabers booth which has a HUGE stock of light sabers. One day I’ll finally cave and get myself a purple one. ;)

After 4 days of non stop geeky fun...I was ready for some sleep.

And love that we had many attendees tell us that they have seen us at other conventions — and how they were so excited to see us again. I love all the work Nick does and it makes me so happy when others also love his work. Yay!

Overall this is definitely my favorite convention of all time (for now at least). We both has such an amazing time even thought we were extremely exhausted at the end of it all. So worth it and already counting down for the 2016 show!
