A few weeks ago I bought my first can of Valspar Chalkboard paint and I didn’t know how addicting it would be to chalkboard everything!
Already a few things are in the process of being painted with this amazing paint. Eventually everything in our home will be covered with chalk scribbles. Well probably not, but at least one wall and a coffee table will. ;)
Months ago I had purchased a simple wood shelve from IKEA but never got around to doing anything with it. FInally I decided to make a little board for some random scribbles and to attempt some fancy writing on it.
Obviously I still need some practice but that’s the fun part about chalkboard paint – you can always change up the message there!
Materials:
Valspar Chalkboard Paint
Paint Brush or roller
Wooden shelf from IKEA
As the piece of wood I was using was already smooth I skipped the sanding part of the process. If the wood you are using has some indentations and is a bit uneven then I suggest lightly sanding the wood.
When the wood is ready, simply paint. If you want to give it a second coat to make sure it’s all even, wait until the paint is completely dry to repaint.
Once ready – get out your chalk and start drawing!

I love how I can change up the message. I know that for different holidays I will try to draw something festive – or maybe I can convince the Hubs to drawing something for me (he is much more talented). :)
Have you used chalkboard paint before? What DIY projects have you used it for?

Oh, this looks awesome! Also — do I spy a record player? What kind do you have? I’ve been thinking about getting a turquoise Crosley but see mixed reviews on amazon.
Yup! It’s a Crosley record player and so far I am loving it. Haven’t had any issues with it. Highly recommended it! :)
oh! is that a Civil Wars record? i love them!
Yup! They are truly magical! :)
