Blog Tips // Create an Animated GIF

Animated-GIF-Tutorail

On NYE the Honey and I took these silly images so I thought it would be fun to make a little animation with my favorite 4 photos. I had so much fun making this I started making random little animations just for fun. It’s so easy to do that I thought it would be fun to share this little tutorial with you!

Now time for some animating!

Step 1: Created your layers using Photoshop. Each layer will represent a different frame for your animation.

Step 2: In your Ps Menu go to “Window” –> “Animation”. This will display the animation palette.

Step 3: Turn off visibility (by clicking on the little eye icon next to each layer) for all the layers that you want hidden. Click on the “Add New Frame” icon then. Add the next layer and repeat.

On the lower left hand side of the Animation palette you can adjust the number of times you want the animation to loop. I selected “Forever” for my animation. Press the “Play” icon to test your animation.

Saving Animation in Photoshop

Step 5: Once ready go to “File” –> “Save for Web & Devices” – under the “Preset” section make sure to select “GIF”. Save the file.

Step 6: To open your GIF use your web browser.

I am still a rookie at writing tutorials, so feel free to comment or email me if you have any questions. I will update the steps if necessary.

If you make any fun animations make sure to share a link – would love to see it! ;)
