Web Projects: Jen CYK Photography

Another week, another project completed!

I have to say that I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to work with so many talented ladies. This week I finished Jen’s new blog – Jen CYK Photography.

She wanted to give her old blog a bit of a makeover and I think we both nailed it! It is really great working with someone so creative and trusting. She gave me her ideas and let me run with it. :)

I am very happy with the turn out and it seems like Jen is happy too. She totally made me blush when I read this post. Love making a client happy.

Real Talk // Postponed by Nerves

So today I was planning on having this awesome post about making your very on animated image – but then I stared at the computer screen not sure how to start. I’ve been planning this new blog column for a while now. I even mentioned it on Twitter. I even have a list of topics I want to write about. Basically my plan is to write about 2 posts a month with some tips and tricks for blogging.

After procrastinating for sometime now on this project I decided to finally write my post last night. But I just felt weird writing a post and talking about this subject. I’ve been working more and more with bloggers and have blogged for over a year but just feel that my tips might not be that great. I mean – who do I think I am writing about blogging?

So instead of writing the post I got up and ate ice cream from the container while brainstorming that post. Nothing came to mind. So then I went to brush my hair. Nothing. Stared at a Hunger Games poster (random) and still nothing. I sat again in front of the computer and designed a header for a project I am working on. I claimed I would write this post no matter what. And here we are.

Turns out I didn’t write it. Now I am not sure why I decided to write this instead. Maybe this will give me the push to get my act together and just write about what I know. Who knows. I do want to share the knowledge that I have and help fellow bloggers with what I know. I just need to woman up. Which I will, eventually. Promise.

How do you overcome nerves when they are holding you from doing something you really want to do? Do you procrastinate to the very end like me or is there a better solution that I am not aware of.

Fun and Bold Tea Towels

Since I started my cookie challenge in the beginning of the year I’ve been practicing taking pictures of cookies every week. Some weeks are better than others but I’ve noticed that most of my photos have the same background – a wooden cutting board.

I don’t own any pretty tea towels so I’ve been looking for random pieces of fabric at home. I’ll even be honest and point out that some of these fabrics are from clothing or scarves. Odd, I know. I actually go into my closet and find something I like then place if on top of my cutting board and snap some pictures. Maybe it’s time for me to invest in a few fun patterned tea towels. What do you say?

1. Triangle Tea Towel from Ferm Living

2. Herb Garden Tea Towel from New House Textiles

3. GLANTA from IKEA

4. A Gathering of Friends from ModCloth

5. Flatware from Skinny laMinx

6. Mushroom for One More from ModCloth

Do you have an entire stash of tea towels in your kitchen? What’s your favorite shop to purchase tea towels from? Would love some recommendations.

Jelly Loves: bRainbow

Do you remember how fun a ViewMaster was? I remember have tons of Disney reels as a child. That little thing could really entertain me. Maybe that was just me – I was a bit of an odd child.

Anywho – when I spotted this ViewMaster clock it brought back so many memories. The mustache on it is a total bonus. Definitely adding this to my wish list (hint hint).

Plus this shop has wooden fox earrings. This is totally my new favorite shop on Etsy.

My Insta Weekend: 05.14.12

On the Disney tram. :)

Made some Champagne Cocktails with pretty stripey straws. (recipe)

Late night pizza dinner.

Tried Talenti Gelato for the first time. OMG! I was totally missing out.

This Saturday I decided to give cocktail mixing a try. I barely make drinks at home because I am so bad at it but had to give this champagne cocktail I found online a try. I am proud to say that it was pretty amazing! It was refreshing and gave me a reason to use pretty stripey straws (and this printable from BHLDN). We then ate pizza for dinner. Totally classy – champagne and pizza. Haha!

I also bought some Talenti Gelato, which I kept hearing about on Twitter and Instagram. The sea salt caramel was beyond amazing. I could probably eat the entire container but my conscious stopped me. Plus – it just means I still have gelato for the week.

So now that I think about it my entire weekend consisted of eating and working. Exciting, huh?

For those of you who have tried Talenti before – any other flavors you recommend? Not sure which one to try next.

What I Wore: A Spring Wedding

This past weekend The Honey and I attended his cousin’s wedding and that meant I needed to do a little shopping. I wanted a fun dress that could function for this wedding and other events.

While I browsed through the sales rack at Anthropologie I found this beautiful piece! I ended up returning my original dress and purchased this one instead (which was on sale). Total win!

When I wore it on Saturday I felt super classy. I added some purple heels and a gold clutch that I also scored on sale the same day of the wedding.

Now I can’t wait to wear this dress again! It will be perfect for a fancy date, dinner party with friends, or a girl’s night out.

What I Wore: Red Patterned Dress and Gold Pouch (Similar Style) from Anthropologie // Purple Heels (Similar Style) from Simply Vera // Beaded Necklace from Forever21

Have you been to any weddings this spring? What did you wear?

Web Projects: The Moments of Life

Another project has been completed! I am so psyched to have this project up and running for everyone to see. The lovely Krista from The Moments of Life contacted me regarding a website makeover that she had been wanting to do. She sent me some layout ideas and we got to work. I love the turnout and how it pushed me to learn new things.

Plus look at her photograhy! It really makes the site look even better. She has even got me contemplating a little trip to visit her for a photo shoot! ;)

The Cookie Challenge // Week 19: Vanilla-Almond Granola Cookies

I’ve always been a firm believer that cookies are allowed to be your breakfast. But then again I’ve eating cold pizza, turkey sandwiches, cake, avocado (yes, avocado for breakfast), and other odd food items for breakfast in the past. Don’t judge.

So when I discovered this breakfast cookie I knew I had to make it! It contains delicious granola, honey, and almonds. It’s what every breakfast should include. This cookie will definitely get you out of any breakfast rut you might be facing.

After making these I realized that to add any extra touch of fun you can create a quick glaze with confectioners sugar and a few drops of water then just drizzle over your breakfast and enjoy! This really is the right way to start the morning.

My Insta Weekend: 05.07.12

Spent the weekend in Miami for a special wedding.

Had some girl time with the Bestie at Anthro and we bought each other gifts.

Scored this amazing greeting card with cute little foxes! Going to frame it.

Dress Shoes + High Heels = Fancy Night

The Honey and I all dressed up for his cousin’s wedding. We looked classy. ;)

The centerpieces.

This weekend the Hubs and I drove to Miami for the weekend. His cousin was getting married so we couldn’t miss it.

Of course I spent some girl time with the Bestie and went to Anthro. What was supposed to be a “browsing experience” turned out to be a mini shopping trip. We scored some amazing goodies on sale and couldn’t resist. Plus we bought each other little gifts. Every time we spend time together I am reminded of how amazing our friendship is. (Sorry for the cheesy moment!)

On Cinco de Mayo the Hubs and I dressed up and attended a beautiful wedding. He looks so cute wearing a tie! Plus I got to use my new Anthro dress which made me feel very classy.

We also got to spend some time with our families and ate a lot of tasty food. The bad part was the drive back. Today I think might be a “2 cups of coffee” kind of morning.

How did you spend your weekend? Got some R&R or kept busy-busy?
