Art to Inspiration: Jo Howe

I have always had a beautiful relationship with books. At a young age I used to love reading a book while classmates were enjoying recess. I remember the first book that I ever read was the biography of Helen Keller when I was in 4th grade. It was a major accomplishment. So when I saw that today’s Art to Inspiration was created using books I was in love.

There is just something so special about the crisp pages of a new book and something so mysterious about the worn out pages from a used book. Call me a nerd but you have to admit that this piece created by Jo Howe has a mixture of something special and mystery wrapped up all in one.

So I was inspired to pick a few pieces that inspired this geeky lady.

This Month’s Artist: Jo Howe // Echoes of a Fragrant Voices

1. Postcards from Penguin

2. ASOS Book Cluth

3. Parsons Reading Glasses from Oliver Peoples

4. Book Club President Top

  1. I saw the postcards from penguins at Anthro and that book clutch?! PERFECT for you… except it would be even more perfect if it said The Hunger Games right smack in the front haha

  2. Oliver Peoples make the best frames – Zooey on the New Girl wears a pair like that. I agree, I’m a huge fan of going to the library just ’cause I love the feel of old books!

  3. This is such a great interpretation of the piece! I totally agree about the feel and smell of new and old books alike. No tablet could ever replace those things!

  5. This was a really cute post! I can’t believe you actually found a shirt called “The Book Club President Top,” that’s too perfect. I totally agree, I love old books and the feel of paper!
