Jelly’s Kitchen: Cake Batter Ice Cream

Yesterday I was a monster in the kitchen. Yup, I got down and dirty and made tons of food so I could freeze it and always have an available meal for lunch or dinner. I do this about once a month so I could avoid cooking on a daily basis.

Anywho…as I was in the kitchen I decided to finally give the ice cream maker a test drive. I was going to go with plain vanilla (my favorite) but decided to try something a little more exciting. I made a cake batter ice cream that was so delicious that I bet The Hubs would have proposed if we haven’t been married already. Maybe this is engagement ice cream. Maybe? Give it a try!

I used a recipe from “Fat Girl Trapped in a Skinny Body” and it was perfect! The only tweaking I did was adding more sprinkles, a lot more (I really love sprinkles). I definitely recommend visiting her blog and trying this ice cream out because it is totally totes worth it!

Next I plan on making some salted butter caramel ice cream and honeycomb ice cream. This is will be bad for my waistline…hehe.

What ice cream recipes have you tried? Anything you recommend?

P.S. – Did you notice my new bowls from Anthropologie? I use them for everything now. :)

  1. I would bet that this is probably engagement ice cream. The only thing I would do with it, thinking it would up the amazing quotient, is add some actual vanilla cake. I love different textures together. Do you have an ice cream maker?

  2. Yup, I just got an ice cream maker attachment for my KitchenAid mixer. It is amazing! I will definitely try adding in some vanilla cake. ;)
