Home Decor: Ikea + Tons of Goodies + New Decorating Plans

This past weekend The Hubby and I decided to head over to Ikea to browse a little and just buy a shower curtain. To my surprise, things turned out a little different.

To understand my surprise you need a little more background information. You see, in our relationship, he is more reasonable than I am. His brain sees the pros and cons to a situation. I tend to block the cons (not always good). If I want to paint the kitchen, wear super high heels that will blister my feet, eat something extra spicy, drink coffee with 3 espresso shots at midnight, etc – my brain goes to “Lets do it!” which is not always a good thing (especially the super high heel thing).

So even with his usual good judgment we left with a cart full of goodies, plus a shower curtain. (Ikea, do you spray some type of crazy shopping scent into the air? I think you do. My wallet is not happy about this.)

Turns out we even went to Lowe’s to purchase paint because I also convinced him that we should re-paint the bedroom and bathroom. Yeah!

We also bought a rug at Target but it seems they don’t sell it online. We did keep it simple with the bathroom. The horrible tiles are blue and there isn’t much we can do about it but try to work with it. The room hasn’t been painted yet but its looking great with the new rug.

Bedroom:

-Paint: Secret Passage

-Paint: Plush Purple

-Grey Area Rug

-Sheer Curtain with Flower Pattern

-Dark Purple Satin Woven Bed Sheets

-Grey Duvet Cover

-Curtain Rod

Bathroom:

-Nickel Plated Faucet

-Grey Striped Shower Curtain

-Toothbrush Holder

I doubt we are the only ones thinking that Ikea is spraying something in their shops to makes up shop. Have you gone and left with new decorating plans?

xo,

Meli

  1. Grey and purple are totally the colors I want to do in a bathroom. I need blue in my bedroom to truly make any sense of my life, but the other rooms in the place I live are open to other colors. And I find trips to Ikea and Target always inspire new ideas for your home.

  2. haha we have identical brains. i’m always tossing things into the cart while shopping, while my husband tosses them out :-) ikea is the best!

  3. Gray curtains will not only give the room a clean monochromatic look but will also help the red stand out even more. As an alternative, you can choose a red that matches the red already in the room, or use a lighter or darker shade of the color for your curtains.
